About the Program

Like the Grinch’s heart, Tenor Tuesday is growing three sizes this week due to holiday spirit! Tune in for an expanded program of holiday music, streaming from the stunning Holy Name Parish in West Roxbury, MA. Fran will be joined by Laura McHugh, soprano, and Yukiko Oba, piano to celebrate a wide range of music guaranteed to get you in the spirit. The first half of the performance begins with traditional carols like O Come All Ye Faithful, O Holy Night, and Silent Night, moves to classical Christmas tunes like Gesú Bambino and He Shall Feed His Flock, and ends with a Christmas eve story from the opera canon - La Boheme. The second act explores non-traditional carols like In the Bleak Midwinter and I Wonder as I Wander, and ends with classic sing-along tunes that express the artists’ wishes for you at this time of year, including Count Your Blessings, Let there be Peace on Earth, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

A holiday message from Fran:

As we approach the end of 2020, I find myself reflecting on the role that Tenor Tuesday has played in helping me maintain my sense of purpose, allowing me to experience the joy of performing, and building a sense of community - all despite the obstacles and incredible challenges we faced together. Thank you for giving me this artistic outlet, for enabling me to learn and grow as an artist despite most traditional avenues being closed. Collaborating with Laura and Yukiko on this Christmas program has been a true joy, and we have all felt the ‘reason for the season’ as we were preparing together - and we can’t wait to share it with you.
